Tom Peters coined the term "personal branding" in his widely cited 1997 Fast Company article, "The Brand Called You." Since then, personal branding has become a hot topic. Google Trends shows a nearly 200 percent increase in that search term over the last five years, and the amount of research published on the topic has surged within the last decade.
Despite increasing interest in personal branding, many entrepreneurs give it a shot, don't see the results they expect, and conclude that it's simply not for them.
